In addition to our ASMS job vacancy section, many NZ vacancies are also advertised in the New Zealand Medical Journal (NZMJ), the British Medical Journal (BMJ), and on the Southern Doctor website.
If you are interested in working in New Zealand as a locum please contact one of the ASMS industrial staff at our national office. We may know of positions that have not been advertised.
Before you may practice medicine in New Zealand you must be registered by the Medical Council of New Zealand ("the MCNZ").
The MCNZ will normally register New Zealand and Australian medical graduates without delay or restrictions. However, if your primary medical degree is from a country other than New Zealand or Australia you should contact the MCNZ or DCNZ in the first place to establish your eligibility for registration to practice in this country. More information regarding registration is available in our Employment in New Zealand section.
The New Zealand Medical Journal is published fortnightly by the New Zealand Medical Association. Most university and hospital vacancies for senior medical officers in New Zealand are advertised in the NZMJ. Many NZ vacancies are also advertised on the ASMS job vacancy section and in the British Medical Journal.
Full-time locum positions are often available in most specialties. If you are interested in working in New Zealand as a locum please contact one of the ASMS industrial staff at our national office. We may know of positions that have not been advertised.
