8 December 2010

Dear Member

We welcome any feedback on the contents of this 20th issue for 2010 of ASMS Direct.

1. Donation to Pike River Miners’ Families

The National Executive was deeply saddened with the loss of life of 29 miners at the Pike River mine. In response to this extraordinary tragedy it has decided to make a donation of $10,000 to the trust fund for the families administered by the Engineering, Printing & Manufacturing Union. Half the money raised will be forwarded on to the Grey District Council while the other half will go towards the education of the children of all the families, administered by local representatives of the EPMU (regardless of whether the deceased were union members or not).

Members are encouraged to send their own donations if you have not already done so. Donations can be made at any Kiwibank branch or direct to bank account: Kiwibank 38-9011-0165987-00.
