The ASMS has prepared a substantial paper which was presented to the SMO Commission on 20 January 2009. The contents of the paper include rising costs and global competition, current and future health needs, demand for and supply of specialists in New Zealand, pressure points in the supply of specialists, Australian medical labour market, Canadian approach, and solutions for recruitment and retention.
