Middlemore Hospital is the main hub for acute care and referral services within CMDHB. It is an accredited, 800 bed teaching hospital with affiliations to the University of Auckland and caters for most medical and surgical specialties with a catchment population of 400,000 people.

We are currently seeking a Head of Department who will provide leadership and direction in partnership with the Service Manager and Nursing Leaders for the Renal Service at CMDHB. Ideally you would have strong teamwork skills, be a strategic thinker and enjoy being innovative in looking for new approaches to service delivery.

Our Renal Department currently has 7.5 Nephrologists, 2 Medical Officers, 3 Registrars, 1 Research Fellow , 2 House Officers, 1 Nurse Manager, 3 Charge Nurses, 5 Clinical Nurse Specialists, nurses, technicians and allied health staff.

We provide excellence of care in renal medicine, high quality under-graduate and post-graduate teaching, and have a focus on research. As one of New Zealand's largest providers of renal replacement therapy, we treat over 450 dialysis patients. All dialysis modalities are provided and there is a strong philosophy of supporting our patients to achieve independent home based renal replacement therapy. We actively follow up our renal transplantation patients and there is an interesting spectrum of pathology in our outpatient service.

Salary and conditions of service will be in accordance with the New Zealand ASMS collective agreement. Applicants must have suitable training and hold a vocational registration in Internal Medicine/Renal Medicine. Eligibility to be registered with the New Zealand Medical Council is a prerequisite, www.mcnz.org.nz.

Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) Team

Waitemata District Health Board serves the communities of North and West Auckland and the Rodney District, a population of nearly 500,000. Dedicated to the delivery of public healthcare, Waitemata is committed to "making a healthy difference" to the patient, their family/Whanau, the community and Iwi, and the healthcare workforce.

The EPI team is a specialist service working across the District. We are an assertive outreach community based multidisciplinary team working intensively with young people and their families, providing interventions from the acute phase of psychosis through to recovery.

The service operates a clinical governance model and there are opportunities to be involved in service development, service planning and quality improvement initiatives.

Teaching and supervision of junior doctors/students and clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team are core functions for our Consultants.

You will be committed to providing a high standard of care and clinical leadership, and enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team. You will have a strong consumer focus and enjoy the challenges of providing services to a diverse community.
