Doctors welcome Health Director-General’s departure
The head of the senior doctors union says he expects many will welcome the departure of the head of the Ministry of Health, Chai Chuah. Mr Chuah will be quitting the job in February, well before his five-year term is scheduled to end. The executive director of the Association of Salaried Medical Professionals, Ian Powell, told RNZ health correspondent Karen Brown the resignation comes as no surprise. He says the Ministry’s relationship with the health sector has become increasingly strained and many in the sector blame Mr Chuah’s management style.
